Comparison

My comparison is coming along, I found one good article and I am in search of a second on how Bison effect and help the environment.

Oh, Give Me a Home Where the Buffalo Roam...

The article mainly talks about how the Bison will eventually be domesticated, kind of like cattle. They will be used as livestock and will be "An integral part of land use and management." It also gives a little information about the history of the animal and how it was used in the past. This article is more of an informative article and doesn't point out much of a key audience. It is mainly an article to give information on the possible outcomes of domesticating Bison.

Let the Buffalo Roam

This article talks a lot about restoring bison and fire to the prairies in Oklahoma. He says that bison and fire are important to prairies and explains why. He also talks about making sure that humans and nature work together in order to help the prairies. The author's main audience would have to be adults and young adults who can work to help the environment in Oklahoma. He seems to be a well educated author in the area of the article.

The Destruction of the Bison: An Environmental History

The article mainly gives a good brief history of the Bison population, from nineteenth century to present day. It gives details on how the Bison were used by the Native Americans and why people need to revive the population. The audience for this article would be those looking for information on the Bison species and their history. This author seems to know the book well and can give great detail on the facts within the book.

The Keystone Role of Bison in North America Tallgrass Prairie

The article is trying to relate Bison population to the growth of Tallgrass Prairies. It first tells us the history of the Bison on the prairies and then goes into a great description on how Bison have helped. These include the way the Bison roam and graze the land, the nutrients that the Bison's urine gives to the surrounding plants, and the fact that Bison carcasses can help the land. The possible audience for this article include many, starting with: adults, students, and environmentalists. The authors seem to have substantial amounts of knowledge on tallgrass prairies and they are very well educated on Bison and their roaming patterns.

Changing Topics

At this time I am in the process of changing my subject, I am working hard to find resources. The topic I am now considering writing about is, Endangered Species and the Environment. The main question I will ask is, why is the endangered species protecton important to the environment. I am also considering narrowing this topic by finding a specific endagered species to concentrate on.

I have not found the specific topic I am going to research, but I would let to concentrate on how to help the envirnoment and the activities that humans are undertaking that hinder it as well.

Research Blog

My major at Dakota State University is Exercise Science and Pre- Physical Therapy. I am hoping to find a job in a hospital. I want to help people stay mobile into their late adult lives. I hope that by teaching people exercises and good eating habits that they can live longer, healthier, and happier lives. For my research paper I will be looking up information on eating habits and exercises. I will also find information on how being healthy and fit can add to your overall happiness and well being. After I give this main information, I want to tell how to treat reoccurring injuries that occur in the elderly.
